webtv newsreader has been on the fritz but for sum reason rec auto info no longer gets posts from motorsport.com. i dunno what happened but i don't read news then i can't post any news unless i go look for news an' i don't go to news all the time.

if i want news on something, i go to http://news.google.com

i use www.phonifier.com and it comes up A LOT quicker.

in fact, since i own a Nintendo Wii i signed up for Google Alerts with "Wii" as the subject.

any time ANY news on the wii hits the wires, i get an alert in my webtv email. if it's an article i may have interest in, i click on it, and instead of waiting for it to load, i even cc&p the url from the "go to" box and take it to phonifier to get there quicker.

in fact, i've done the same thing A LOT to post articles in here, by just typing in the league... NFL, NHL, NBA, NASCAR, team names, players, etc.

a newsreader is a service that allows the user to read usnet groups. on the computer is can be a pay service. gettin' inot usenet allows one to read 1000's of groups.

on webtv if one goes to the discuss tab on the home page there is a search that one can type in racin' an'get 1000's of usenet rcin' groups. i have 'bout 10 of these searches saved, includin' rec.auto.sport.info, rec.auto.sport.nascar, plus indy an' cart.

the info site was hooked to motorsport.com an' racin news was posted by the minute. all of m.com's news would listed 50/60 items at a time. i did not have to click on their site i just cc&p it to post here in the gym. the format worked very well on webtv, the real pages are oversized an' take work to repost.

for sum reason the news has stopped listin' on usenet. even google groups has shut down. i dunno why!! it was so easy to get an' post news, now i have to go find it???

how do i kno the newsreader is whapped? 'cause peeps in groups are bitchin'!! if yu go to a group an' see long threads that are missin' the first post that means our reader was shut down on the day the original post was posted.

one of the pages i've saved is a cookin' search. 94 groups show up, includin' the 8 webtv cookin' groups, the rest are usenet.

check the damn timestamp on my last post!!! it's taken me that long to make this post!! shut down twice an' restarted. i can't take this......!!!!

so one more usenet deal.this is the rec auto list i use. as i said above info has shut down for sum reason, total PITA!!!!!

i'm sorry you feel that way. i don't seem to have a problem 99% of the time, although there is the occasional hiccup. i just come back later. happens every couple weeks, about 1/100 times, hence the 99%
